So this has been a pretty big week for me. Friday me and some of my dear friends from our church band went out on to the streets of our hometown, and we really seemed to connect with those around us, we managed to have a number of good conversations with those around us, and i really felt that God called us and used us to touch the hearts of the people of our town that night. It was an amazing night and i can’t remember the last time i felt that in touch with God’s calling on my life and i can’t wait to see what’s next! But it’s got me thinking, is there a point in our faith that we become content with where we are in our walk with the Lord? Where the wonder of his love doesn’t seem so awe-inspiring?
There are so many reasons I love the Lord, the wisdom he can give us and our loved ones, his heart for those that seek him, how he stands with us no matter how far we may wonder from him. But the reason i want to focus on today is how, no matter how high our expectations of him maybe, he has something even better in mind for us. One of the bigger problems that i have in my life is I’m not always willing to move into the life that God has planned for me, because i’m content with everything the way it is, because it’s easier not to have to keep moving with the Lord when everything’s how i want it.
He has done so much in my life already, if it wasn’t for Jesus, I wouldn’t be half the man i am today, I wouldn’t have the amazing family of faith that i have today, and for this I’m grateful, but I know that he has so much more planned for me and those I love. So the question I want to ask today is: How do we balance being happy with what God has done for us, and expecting more? How can we be content with what he has given us while expecting even more amazing gifts from our father?
One of the biggest struggles in this life is to thankful for the things that the Lord does in our lives without bringing our faith to a standstill, because it feels like nothing can get better from that not, because it seems in our human understanding that things can’t get better than they already have. This is simply not true, because our God is bigger than our wildest dreams, our God is stronger than our deepest fears and our God is greater than the best things of this life. A life with the Lord is so much more than being happy with what we’ve got in terms of our earthly possessions, the poorest man in wealth is better off than the poorest man in faith.
Being content with our faith is a tragedy, because we are called to give our hearts and souls to the lord, our walk is just that, a walk, not a long jump, landing in the sand, and setting a record for how far along our faith is. when our faith turns to a long jump, we’ll be surpassed those we’re supposed to be walking with.
We need to be a people that are content with the gifts of this life, and understand it’s not the wealth of this world that defines us. However, we should also be ever expectant of our God, the creator of all things, and the amazing, unimaginable moments he has planned for our lives, And our faith should be like our God, Beyond limitation and unending, so when things seem like they’re just right, like nothing could get better, it’s time to pray for more, because our God is so much better than just being comfortable.
Thank you for reading, and may God bless you.
