This post is going to be a little different to the content i normally post, it will have Themes based around my faith, and I’ll be going into detail about topics I’ve brought up before, but this month, with a lot of positive events happening, with this blog and in my life, I wanted to take this chance to ask myself and all of you reading…
Why do you write?
Well, before I get into my answer to this question, I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself if I may. If you don’t know, my name’s Luke, I’m 19 and from Kent, England. I’ve been writing for the better part of 5 years, well, at least in this sort of format. I have a real passion for writing/media. I’ve been a Christian for 5 years, and i sing in my Churches worship band! I’d tell you how a became a follower of Jesus, but that’s a topic for a different day (Some top-notch foreshadowing there!)
Another important thing you need to know about me if you don’t know this already, is the fact I’ve suffered with clinical depression since the age of 10. I seem to bring this up a lot, but it’s important to the creation of this very blog, and a struggle I still have to this day. But enough about that for now, onto the reason i started this blog and why i write.
When I first started writing, I mainly wrote short stories. I honestly don’t think this turned out to be one of my talents, as i had trouble with pacing and characters. However it made realize i had a passion for written word. About a year later, when i first found Jesus, i began to write poetry, which i continue to do here. But only recently had my mind turned to trying to write about what it’s like to have clinical depression while trying to live for Jesus, a topic that a lot of Christians struggle with understanding, so i thought it was time it was more publicly addressed.
I don’t just write as a means of sharing my thoughts, or my story for my own ego, or because I feel like I’m especially interesting, but more because i want to be able to bless others, if i can make one person feel worthwhile and bless one person with these blogs, i know it’s all worth it.
This is a shorter post than usual, that’s because i want this to be a place to share why do write or do the things you enjoy, if there’s some other reason than you just enjoy what you do! There’ll be another blog on 1 John 1:8 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves” So stay tuned for that!
Now, I have a question for you, Why do you write? Or if you don’t, why do you do the things you love? Is your passion more than something you enjoy, is it being able to brighten other people’s days? Let me know in the comments!
As always, thank you for reading and may god bless you!
