This is a piece I wrote for another site i write for, and lately I’ve been thinking about why i started blogging in the first place, my muse for sharing how I’m feeling and why it’s important to understand why you enjoy writing in the first place, whether it’s just because you have something that you feel like the world needs to hear, or it’s because you simply love writing, it’s a good thing to hold on to, and i feel like this piece sums that up pretty well, so if you’re new to my content welcome and i hope this gives you a good idea of what i’m about. Going to be posting another poem this week so stay tuned!
Something that’s a common theme in my content is my battle with clinical depression. This is something I have suffered with since the age of 10 years old, and continue to struggle with to this day. The reason i want to bring this fact up isn’t because i want pity, or sympathy, but to show you that there is a way out, that there is light after darkness.
This is why one of my favorite books in the bible is psalms, not only do I love the poetry of it, but i some of the verses really sum up living with depression. One such verse that really sticks out to me is psalm 30:5 “For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” This is one of the verses that really hits me, I love it for the simple reason that it really nails how trusting in the will of the Lord can really make the difference. When you’re going to a rough time in your life (The weeping if you will) it can be extremely difficult to pick yourself back up sometimes, to find the joy in the weeping. But it’s really important to be willing to try to find the light in the darkness.
That’s not an easy task, because I know from experience that when everything awful seems to be happening at once, sometimes it seems like the easier option to just give up, to just let the sorrow overcome and overwhelm. This may be the easier option but it is in no way the better option, when everything seems to be at its worst, the best thing you can do is push on, because you are stronger than what ever trial you’re facing. You are better than the darkness, and you are saved in the love of the lord Jesus Christ. He didn’t just die for anyone, he died for everyone, so that you may be a child of the greatest father, that includes you, if you know him or not, just for the chance that you may find his light.
I have been through the pain in the night, and there will be times where the dark creeps back in, and I let the pain takeover, but it’s getting to that joy in the morning, because that joy is sweeter than anything else in this world, that light is brighter than the darkest moment could ever be, because you can make it through and because you are amazing, and so is Jesus
If you have any ideas for a future topic let me know in the comments, Have a blessed week. And May God bless you.
