Hi everyone,I’ve decided to publish this post a day early, but this is week three on the topic “The I in Christ” and it’s one that’s extremely important to living a life for Jesus, and that’s understanding that you are beautiful the way you are because he made you to be who you are. If you have any suggestions for another topic or subject, please let me know in the comments! Before I start, this is a little bit different to the norm of these posts, but this is something that has really been on my heart for a while and it’s an important message for us all. I hope you enjoy.
I struggle with self-worth, I always have, I have trouble acknowledging if I’ve done something well, I don’t like to think anything i have done has any value, and sometimes I convince myself that I’m worthless, i don’t see anything good in me sometimes, and that is a problem when you’re living for Jesus. I am still trying to overcome this mindset, because in order to follow him with every part of our being, we need to be able to see that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, the creator of all doesn’t make mistakes, and no matter what you may feel you are not the exception.
The Lord God has called you into a relationship that is more amazing than you could ever imagine in your wildest dreams, you are welcomed into a relationship with that most amazing father that will never let you down, he made you for a reason, to serve a purpose, even if you don’t know what that purpose may be, know that you have one. Now, a question I get a lot is “you have depression, how can you keep that as a mindset when you’re feeling low?” and the honest answer is, I don’t. I forget that a lot, in my human arrogance i doubt God, i tend to think “Well when he loves the people of the world he doesn’t mean me, maybe my friends and my family, maybe the guy standing next to me, but not me, why would someone as perfect as the creator of all things love someone as broken as me?” The answer is because he made you as you are. I will never be perfect in my human lifetime, I will mess up, I will let people down, I will fail now and again. But i will always be a child of his no matter how far i may wonder from him.
We are called to be the I in Christ, but that’s also understanding that he is also in you, and even you are not able to see it, not only does he love you more than you could ever imagine, but he thought you was worth dying for, so you wouldn’t be held down by the chains of this flawed, broken world.
If you take anything away from this post, I want it to be this. You are beautiful, you are wonderful, and you are amazing. We are in a world that will drag you down for trying to stand out, it will run you down for not fitting in, for trying to be different. You will be misunderstood for being who you are. And at times you may doubt yourself. But i can promise you something, this world is a worse place when you’re not letting who you are shine, i don’t need to know who you are to tell you that Jesus loves you just the way you are, you will mess up at times and I’m not saying that we should stop trying not to, but we all have things we struggle with, you will never be perfect in human eyes, but the Lord doesn’t ask for you to be perfect, he wants to have a relationship with you as you are, broken and human. You are loved and you are wanted. For some people (like me) this can be hard to believe, but that doesn’t make it any less true. He thinks you are beautiful and i do too.
I’ll be going back to the more traditional posts for this blog next week but as always, thank you for reading, and May god bless you.
